You Were Mine - Abbi Glines

Hi there! I’m seeing a lot of negativity about this book and it has me confused. I’d like to start this review with: if you like Bethy and you like Tripp as characters, then you’ll enjoy this book. Honestly! The way Abbi Glines creates passion and realness in her stories in impeccable and for a little over 200 pages I was completely involved. If anything, I didn’t like Bethy in the beginning of the series when she was acting slutty! With that being said, I’d like to share my opinions on You Were Mine by Abbi Glines…

In the eyes of the wealthy playboys who frequent Kerrington Country Club in Rosemary Beach, Tripp Newark is a hero. Under pressure from his parents to become a lawyer and lead a conservative, upper-class life, Tripp disappeared from town five years ago to travel the world, forfeiting the opportunity to inherit millions. Yet few know what he was really running from...

Bethy Lowry was unraveling long before her boyfriend drowned in a riptide trying to save her after she'd had one too many drinks--again. A trailer park kid working as a cart girl among the wealthy patrons of Kerrington Country Club, Bethy has always been impressionable. But five years ago, before she earned her reputation as a hard-drinking, easy girl, she had spent a single summer with Tripp Newark that changed her life forever...

So this story… I loved the wedding scene, I won’t say WHO’S wedding but it was adorable, romantic and the vows were exactly as I hoped. I stated it before; I didn’t really care for Bethy. I thought she was very self involved and selfish for letting her past affect her future but I understood this part of her more than I cared to admit. She’s a curvy and beautiful girl, as described by Tripp, and I enjoyed that she wasn’t this super skinny girl. Tripp was passionate and protective; he was also pretty funny which I enjoyed. All the characters we love are still in this series, now more than ever! Dean Finlay even has several little parts, which is always fun to see. Also Thad has lines, like actual meaning! I love his character, reminds me of a most sophisticated Thad Castle HA! Even share the same name... Oh my. I love her development of Nate too, if you’ve read her other new release, Until The End from her Sea Breeze Series, then you understand why I’m FREAKING out right now.
I also enjoy that Glines Isn’t afraid to face real issues in her books. Abortion was a topic also discussed in One More Chance. Although I’m not saying what side she’s on, because I don’t know Mrs. Glines personally, I can say she’s very very fair when writing about it, which I would like to thank her for.  It’s a sensitive topic for many and it’s important as well. She’s very careful. Also Bethy seems to be depressed after the loss of Jace; we see that in several books. For someone who understands depression and anxiety well, it’s amazing for an author to show it in a way that isn’t offensive or weak. Again, thank you.
Overall, the story was exactly as I hoped. The characters were great as always and even the ones I wasn't sure about had me smiling. My only complaint is the end, although I understand it I get flustered by how quickly these couples in Rosemary Beach move! Like damn! Besides that, it’s a quick read and if you love a good series like I do then you should really pick up these books. You can start with this one or you can start in the beginning with Fallen Too Far. I’m lucky enough to have loved her since the beginning and I plan on sticking with her till the end.
