Hi there! Book four may not have thrilled me but The Mortal
Instruments: City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare certainly made up for it!
The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so
do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.
What price is too high to
pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to
discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with
her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The
Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without
destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain
with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary
plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own
life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still
trust him? Or is he truly lost?
Love. Blood. Betrayal.
Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth
book of the Mortal Instruments series.
Honestly,
I thought after book three I was going to be severely disappointed but City of
Lost Souls totally made up for it. I think I love Simon in this book more than
I love Jace… I truly like Clare’s ability to make her books page-turners and
keep the reader in the dark. Something else I hadn’t mentioned prior was that I
love the quotes she puts at the beginning of each part. It gives me a little idea what the part if
going to be about, as well as giving me a quote for future use.
Clary
Fray. Oh my gosh, girl. She needs to realize that there are more things in the
world than Jace, such as her family and Simon... She spends a majority of the
book struggling with her Jace and the evil Jace and let me tell you, when there’s
a guy that hot wanting you, you shouldn’t think about stabbing him… She really
bothered me in this book but I guess that’s just teen love?
Also,
without much spoiling, Alec and Magnus…
I almost cried…
An
adventurous, engaging and intense book.
