Getting fired and dumped in the same thirty seconds makes for a pretty bad Tuesday. But by Thursday, I’ll be in Vegas celebrating my brother’s wedding. Since I could use a fresh start, he offers me a place to stay with a buddy of his.
At the bachelorette party, a raunchy game results in a quest to find me a one-night stand. When a hunk with dark blue eyes and perfect bone structure hits me with a silly line at the bar, my mission is complete.
I vow to move on from our steamy night as I head to the rehearsal dinner, certain one of my brother’s hot pro football player groomsmen will be my Prince Charming.
Then the best man turns around. Dark blue eyes. Perfect bone structure. A body I won’t soon forget.
And apparently my new roommate.
I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This new series from Lisa Suzanne is going to be fun, I can already tell. While book one, Home Game, was a quick read, it brilliantly set the scene for readers to fall for the main characters and their stories. I am a big fan of Suzanne and her Rockstar romance stories so having her venture into the world of sport is exciting! I don’t know much about football, I do love PR and marketing so I found myself researching players' social media (you’ll see why in the book).
Ellie is very likable. She is a typical dreamer who is in a rough spot but knows that this isn’t the end of the world, which I love because in reality it’s not! I love her optimism of moving to Vegas to be with her brother and start anew even though she has no concrete plan once she gets there. I am also a fan of Luke. I mean how could I not be? He is polite, funny, and overall, what fairytales are made out of (as Ellie out so perfectly). I also enjoy Josh, Ellie’s brother. I found him interesting comic relief and feel like he and his wife will be important throughout the story for many reasons beyond the obvious.
Book two, Long Game, is being released the same day as Home Game and I am thankful for that because I felt this book went by extremely fast and left me wanting for with that ending. I personally felt that this story could have been the first half of a book as opposed to the first in the series but I’m not disappointed. I just felt it went too fast and really all it did was set the scene for the rest of the books.
I look forward to the release of the rest of Luke and Ellie’s story!
