City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) - Cassandra Clare

Hi there! The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is probably my new favorite book... Bravo Cassandra Clare, bravo!

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

I plan on reading all the books by the time the next one comes out at the end of May, that’s how much I loved this book!! And PS I broke my own rule: I highlighted my favorite lines, paragraphs and quotes because I wanted to look back and smile at what I found fun and cute! Most of the lines are what Jace said.. Anyway! Now this is a fantasy fiction novel but this topic of Angels and demons has been something that has interested me all my life. I’ll be honest now; I did see the movie first. I’m a mega Lily Collins fan and have been dying to see the movie for her and the hot guys casted around her. I ordered the movie and this book off Amazon that day. I’m from New York, so reading books about here always catch my attention first, which I really liked about it! The character and relationship development was fantastic and I fell in love with several people. The story is compelling and a page-turner which was great for me. I enjoy page-turners especially when they’re long like this book. I feel like I completely got my money’s worth! I really cannot wait to read the second one and give you guys that review!

I AM IN LOVE WITH JACE. Jace is a witty and sexy character who just completely draws you in. He jokes with Clary to no end but also lets her get to know the real Jace. I really thoroughly enjoyed his personality; Clare captured my dream boy! He’s got stunning golden eyes and blonde hair; I can picture Jamie Campbell Bower immensely and I’m so glad he got the role. I also really liked Clary, she didn’t put up with Jace’s bull most of the time and I appreciated how brave and cool she was. She was 15/16 in this novel, which I thought was a little young, then I thought of my brother, who’s turning 16 in October, and decided for a series of 6 books age 15 is a rather great place to start!

The supporting characters were also amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens with Alec no spoilers and I also loved Isabelle and Simon, I hope to see something happen with them. Also I enjoyed the full descriptions of each character, Clare does an excellent job giving the reader a visual.

Smart, witty, believable, and romantic.
Rating: 10/10 :D

I drank iced chai most of this book. I got my copy off Amazon,

It’s also available at Barnes and Noble, iBooks, and BookDepository.
