City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments # 6) - Cassandra Clare

Hi there! In the final installment of the series, The Mortal Instruments: The City of Heavenly Fire, Cassandra Clare ties up so many stories and makes the reader finally take a breathe of fresh air.

In this dazzling and long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary's own brother.

Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Infernal Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell.

The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris - but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?

When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim have ever known is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee - even if their journey takes them deep into the demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned...

Love will be sacrificed and lives lost in the terrible battle for the fate of the word in the thrilling final installment of the classic urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments!

This series has been one of my favorites to read. Book 6 doesn’t disappoint with its language, action and even its surprises. Each of the characters goes through an internal struggle in this book and we even get introduced to several new characters. Specifically, I was very happy with the storyline of new children characters Emma and Jules. I hope she does write another spin off series all about them! Simon broke my heart in this one and all I kept thinking was, “where’d my Simon?” Jace was AWESOME and just Jace. There’d a sad character death and a few wins for the Shadowhunters.
Overall I was happy with this book. I really love Jace so anytime he talked I was highlighting and just loving his sarcasm. Alec was also a bigger role in this book and it made me like him a bit more and I also realized he’s just a regular guy, trying to make his family proud. Isabelle sort of annoyed me towards the end but I understand why she was so upset about the outcome of their adventure. Simon was selfless and loving, something I appreciate and absolutely adore. Clary was just as stubborn and just as clever as usual. She really didn’t play victim in this book like usual, which I enjoyed seeing.
I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters just yet. I hope Clare writes spinoffs and includes these characters!

Steamy, action packed and bittersweet.
Rating: 9/10
