Hi there! So I read Billy and Me a few
days ago and holy crap it’s ever girls’ fantasy… here’s the summary:
Sophie
May has a secret.
One
that she’s successfully kept for years. It’s meant that she’s had to give up
her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her
little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But
then she meets the gorgeous Billy – an actor with ambitions to make it to the
top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her
life into Billy’s glamorous – but ruthless – world.
Their
relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away
from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with
Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered
and shared with the nation?
First
off: I honestly picked to read this because I have a newfound obsession with
the British boy band McFly and Tom Fletcher’s wife, Giovanna, wrote this! Of
course the character Billy is an actor but she must of had some parallels
to her and Tom, no?
Next:
Who doesn’t want a celebrity to fall for them? I’m pretty sure everyone has a
celebrity crush! I loved Billy for selfish reasons; he seemed hot
and irresistibly charming much like a boy I am friends with… But Billy is a
bit underdeveloped; he doesn’t have much of a personality that jumps off the
page. His characteristics are cute though and Fletcher did an excellent job
making me hear Billy’s laugh and see his smile, although he "throws his head back" and laughs a bit too often... Sophie May is, quite honestly,
a very overly sensitive character. Maybe since I’m not dating a celebrity I
don’t understand as much but I feel like she overreacts about little things
Billy does and she’s almost looking for a way out. I wish there was just a bit
more YA aspect to this novel, being 19 I like a steamy scene once in a while!
Lastly,
and this is more serious, I found the book entertaining. Most of the book I was wrapped up in and found it hard to put down. The secret is a bit of a let down, not that it mattered to me much, and the characters weren’t
too strong. I did cry during the last two chapters though… It was sad okay! The
book is written very simply, like high school level but it’s enjoyable for all
ages.
Quick,
easy and adorable read!
