Namesake (Fable, #2) - Adrienne Young

Trader. Fighter. Survivor.

With the Marigold ship free of her father, Fable and its crew were set to start over. That freedom is short-lived when she becomes a pawn in a notorious thug’s scheme. In order to get to her intended destination she must help him to secure a partnership with Holland, a powerful gem trader who is more than she seems.

As Fable descends deeper into a world of betrayal and deception she learns that her mother was keeping secrets, and those secrets are now putting the people Fable cares about in danger. If Fable is going to save them then she must risk everything, including the boy she loves and the home she has finally found.

Filled with action, emotion, and lyrical writing, New York Times bestselling author Adrienne Young returns with Namesake, the final book in the captivating Fable duology.

Namesake picks up where Fable left off. We meet Zola and his crew and get to see Fable face challenges that I imagine aren’t too different from what a real pirate would face when joining a crew like this. She also starts off on the wrong foot with them due to the events in Fable. It’s such a fun story and I LOVED hearing about Fable’s relationships with people from her past.

I also love the Marigold crew and loved seeing them in this story, I’d actually love if Ms. Young wrote a little novella of what the Marigold crew was doing while Fable was with Zola... The reader knows what they did but I would LOVE to see it from the crew members’ POV. Seeing West change like that, losing someone they learned to love even if she’s their bad luck charm, I don’t know I would just absolutely live for that information!!!!

I felt West and Fable’s romantic side fell a little flat overall. I love YA but sometimes I feel like the characters just fall in love and that’s that... There’s no real depth or reason, they just saw each other and knew.

Overall; I loved this duology and Adrienne Young’s writing. I look forward to reading more from her in the future, especially her spin off book from this duology!!!
