After Series (Books 1-4) - Anna Todd

Tessa Young is a dedicated student, dutiful daughter and loyal girlfriend to her high school sweetheart. Entering her first semester of college, Tessa's guarded world opens up when she meets Hardin Scott, a mysterious and brooding rebel who makes her question all she thought she knew about herself -- and what she wants out of life.

These books blew my mind. I read roughly 2,600 pages between the 4 and I can honestly say it felt so quick, it took me less than a week to devour. Todd's style of writing is very conversational, simple and easy to follow. I can't give much away being that I'm reviewing for books at once but I'd like to give them each a rating individually. Todd wrote the series as a fan fiction about Harry Styles and let me tell you; I don't see it at all (being a big fan of the band myself) but I am TRULY so thankful that she wrote this series. I've always heard that if you read a book and don't feel anything, then it's not the book for you.
That being said, let's jump into this: Hardin Scott might be the sexiest character I have ever read. Although, and understandably so, people have an issue with his pushiness and his flaws  I strongly believe that's what makes him so desirable. Also, I love seeing the guy go from an  attainable cool guy to a really interesting complex character. Much like Tessa, I want to fix him. I want to show him he is a good person. The couple themselves are so hot and passionate, I can't help but get lost between the pages, highlighting all the romantic phrases. I also really enjoy that from books 2 to 4, the reader gets to hear he story from both characters perspectives. There is also a 5th book called Before from Hardin's POV only, and I am SO excited to read that next!
There are definitely moments I could do without, a major plot twist occurs in book 4 and honestly... I could have cared less about it. I think it just takes up space in their epic love story. I also don't love certain characters, of course this is done purposefully which I applaud Todd for and can't be mad about. I also love how she actively ties the books into each other using the same quotes, same novels that the characters love, are motifs. This is definitely more of a young adult novel, there are sex scenes and things mentioned that people under 17 shouldn't read, or necessarily want to read.
Overall, I thought each book took me on a journey that I couldn't space, much like the characters themselves. Luckily, this series will be coming to the big screen April 12th, 2019. I will most definitely be watching closely for all the mannerisms Hero Fiennes-Tiffin brings to Hardin and Josephine Langford brings to Tessa. They seem very well cast to me and I anticipate this being great! Even if it's not, I know I'll like it just because it's about Hessa, as they're called by fans.
